William “Bill” H. Powers, 78, of Carmel, passed away January 2, 2025. He was born in Baltimore, MD on July 22, 1946, son of the late Henry and Phoebe (Longfellow) Powers.
Bill was a 1964 graduate of Tenafly High School in NJ and continued his education at The Citadel with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, graduating in 1968.
Before retiring after 30 years of service with Chubb Insurance, Bill worked as an IT specialist and director. Bill was a proud veteran of the US Army, having served during the Viet Nam War. He attained the rank of Captain.
Bill was a voracious reader, especially appreciating the Civil War era. He also enjoyed saltwater fishing along the Jersey shore.
Survivors include his brother, David (Susan) Powers and sister, Elizabeth (Bert) Hodges; several nieces and nephews.
To honor Bill’s wishes, there will not be a service.
