William “Bill” Cochran, 86, of Carmel, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018. He was born in Liberty, KY on April 2, 1932 son of Earl M. and Clara Ann King Cochran.
Although his heart remained forever in KY, Bill traveled to IN in the 1950’s to search for work. Having come from a farm where his father operated a sawmill and barn building business, he learned basic woodworking skills. These skills he honed to become a master trim carpenter for high end home builders in IN. Strong in his Christian faith, Bill believed God had gifted him his skills.
Bill met Alice in 1965 to whom he married and had two children, William “Billy Lee” and Melissa “Missy”. Bill’s life consisted of work and family as his focus. He remained very active, strong and independent late into his life. Reading his Bible was Bill’s primary daily activity which brought much comfort.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Cochran; siblings, Katherine, Edith, Vina, Roger and Lester.
Survivors include his son, William (Monica) Cochran; daughter, Melissa (Rick) Smith; grandchildren, Megan, AJ, Tommy and Eleanor Smith, William Cole Cochran, Elizabeth Ann Cacho and a great-grandchild, Theodore; brother, Earl Monroe “Roe” Cochran and sister, Josephine Monroe.
