Walter Woelfel Obituary

Denny Woelfel, 83, of Carmel, passed away October 18, 2018 in his home after celebrating his 83rd birthday with family.  Denny was born in Cincinnati, OH, the second oldest of 5 children, to Joseph and Catherine Rammacher Woelfel.

The beginning of Denny’s success as a salesman began at age 16 when he started selling magazines door to door in his community.  Denny then worked for Burlington Industries and before retiring at age 53, he worked for Aris Isotoner.  He was a graduate of Cathedral High School and Marian College.

Denny enjoyed gardening, playing tennis, bike riding, and family vacations to FL.  Many fond memories were made when the family visited the different amusement parks.

Following retirement, Denny was able to devote full time to the Lord through volunteering at St Vincent DePaul Food Pantry as well as involvement with the Pro-life movement. Denny and his wife, Margaret Ann are longtime Parishioners of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church where Denny served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister.  Without question, Denny loved his family, his faith, his friends and spending winters in FL.

In addition to his parents, Denny is preceded in death by his brother Robert T. Woelfel.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Margaret Ann Miller Woelfel; children, Mike (Laura) Woelfel, Denise (Doug) Myers and Cathy (Jon) Jessup; grandchildren, Mitch Myers, Charlie Myers, Sarah Woelfel, Annabelle Myers, Matthew Jessup, Matt Woelfel, Teddy Myers, Carly Jessup, Izzy Jessup and Margaret Myers; brothers, Joe (Marcia) Woelfel, Jack (Carol Ann) Woelfel and sister, Lynne (Mike) Boone.

Family and friends will gather on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 9 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church with the Rosary beginning at 10:30 am.  The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am in the church.  Burial will follow in Our Lady of Peace cemetery.
