Susan Melissa (Youell) Brock

Susan Melissa Y. Brock (Youell), age 84, of Carmel, Indiana, our much beloved Mom, Nana, Granna, sister, aunt, and friend, joined the love of her life and our wonderful Dad, Wade, in Heaven on October 5, 2021. 

Dad, being the Southern gentleman that he was, entered Heaven’s gates on July 26, 2001 and has been waiting oh so patiently for his “Shug” to join him.  Mom was born in Big Stone Gap, VA on March 2, 1937 to Patrick & Melissa Slemp Youell and was married to Dad after high school.

She was involved in so many groups from her high school days through adulthood:  the Harlan High School Musettes, Marching Band Drum Majorette, the Green Dragons Booster Club, Co-Chairman of their high school reunions, Girl Scout Troop Leader, Meals on Wheels, Welcome Wagon, President of Carmel United Methodist Women, President of the Carmel High School PTA, and a host of other civic activities.  As much joy as she found being so involved, Mom’s greatest joy was her cherished family above everything, as well as her dear lifelong friendships with Nan Turner (Dean), Irene Stall (Jim), Gretchen Eagle (Cliff) and Nancy Wolgemuth (Lonny).

She is survived by her daughters (her chicks) Kim Myers and Karen Brock Snow; grandchildren (her diddles) Melissa Myers (Sean) Whitaker, Dan (Leighanna) Myers and Alyxandra (Brendan) Snow Dowie; her great-grandchildren, Madelynn and Matthew Myers, Roman Whitaker and Stone Dowie; sister, Barbara Greenspan (Frank); brother, Dane Youell (Lois); sister-in-law, Velma Brock; brothers-in-law, Julian Brock (Billie) and Harvey Brock; nieces, Debbie Greenspan Watts, Leslie Greenspan McDonnell, Zonya Battershell, Saya Craney, Tracey Penley, Sandi Brock, Carolyn Brock, Julie Sizemore and nephews Jim Youell, Rob Brock, Randall Brock, and Jennings Brock along with numerous great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place Saturday, October 9, 2021 at11:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm in Bussell Family Funerals, Carmel, Indiana.

Mom’s final place of rest is Carmel Cemetery, next to Dad, her beloved and adored husband Wade.

We are so completely heartbroken by your passing Mom, yet gratitude fills our hearts for having you and Dad as our incredible parents. Now it’s time for you to soar on eagles’ wings and be surrounded by the immense love of those who have gone before you, Heaven’s angels and most of all, God.  “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
