Ruth (Theis) Moorhous

 Ruth Moorhous, 86, of Indianapolis, Hamilton County, was called to her Heavenly Home Monday, October 24, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born June 11, 1936 in Lowell, IN, daughter of Matthew and Ruth (Vallee) Theis.

Ruth enjoyed canning vegetables, then sharing them with others. She also was an avid reader. For a number of years, Ruth worked as manager of  the cafeteria in the Carmel Elementary School.   Her greatest joy came when spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, George W. Moorhous Jr.; son, George W. Moorhous III; brother, Ted Theis; and sister, Janet Baldwyn.

Survivors include her sons, Greg (Kathy) Moorhous of Arcadia, IN, Scott (Deana Stewart) Moorhous of Tipton, IN; daughter-in-law, Cathie Moorhous of Morton Grove, IL; 7 grandchildren, Justin Moorhous, Erin Moorhous, Kelly Moorhous, Kelsey Stewart, Preston Stewart, Dan Rose and Sean Rose; 6 great-grandchildren; and sister, Doris Midkiff.

Family and friends will gather Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 11 am in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, of which Ruth was an active member, and where the Funeral Service will begin at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ruth, may be given to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 445 E. 111th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46280.  Envelopes will be available at the service
