Runchou Wang, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in Carmel on April 2, 2026, at the age of 92. He was born January 3, 1934, in Shanghai, China, he lived a life of quiet distinction, deep devotion, and enduring joy.
Runchou met the love of his life, Xudan Ge, during their college years, and the two were married on February 25, 1966. For sixty years, theirs was a partnership built on love, loyalty, and a shared life fully lived.
He earned his master's degree in chemical engineering from East China University of Science and Technology, going on to spend more than three decades as a professor there. Generations of students passed through his classroom, shaped by his knowledge and guided by his example.
Runchou was a man of remarkable range. In his youth, he played baseball with enthusiasm during his undergraduate years. His gifts in the kitchen were legendary — his cooking was a centerpiece of countless gatherings where family and friends came together around his table. In retirement, he took up the piano, embracing the challenge with characteristic resolve. In his later years, he discovered a deep and abiding love for Chinese calligraphy, producing beautiful works that his family will treasure always.
Above all, Runchou was defined by his devotion to family. He cherished their travels together, delighted in every family celebration, and found his greatest joy in his three grandchildren. He was the steady heart of his family — a source of calm optimism through life's difficulties and the quick wit that lit up every room he entered.
Survivors include his wife, Xudan; sons, Bernie and Bruce; his daughters-in-law, Erin and Grace; and grandchildren, Karen, Karl, and Kara.
