Ronald Edward “Ed” Haskett, 76, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on October 27, 2025 in New Castle, Indiana. He was born June 28, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana, and raised in the small town of “Home Place”, a suburb of Carmel.
Ed was a man of trades, from construction to owner-operator truck driver to wrenching on hot rods. He had a passion for antique cars, especially 57 Chevys, and spent many years working with his older brother Gary and nephew Larry on restorations. Most of his friends knew him as “Fast Eddie” for his enthusiasm for test runs with lots of noise, burnouts, and smoke trails. He was also really fast at showing up for home cooked meals. When it came to fried chicken or meatloaf made by his sisters, he was always there. Ed loved country music and Elvis, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends. Even when he wasn’t feeling well, he could be counted on to check in on his younger brother Mike, or sisters, Susie, Cathy and Cheryl. Ed was that kind of guy, and you may not see him often but when you did, he didn’t miss a beat. His contagious smile and candid laugh will be missed by many.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents Donald Weldon Haskett and Martha Jane Haskett; wife, Mary Roberts Haskett; daughter, Tami Lynn Haskett; grandson, Johnny Cannon; brother, Gary Haskett; and sister, Sally Waggonner, as well as his brothers-in-law Charles Ray Moore and Steve Wright.
He is survived by his brother Mike (Susie) Haskett; sisters, Cheryl (Larry) Loring, Susan Wright, and Cathy Moore; stepson, Ronnie Warren; grandsons Joey Couch, Brandon Ladd, and Blake Warren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Ed's Life will be at a later date.
Ed's final resting place will take place in Carmel Cemetery.
