Robert "Rob" Christie Obituary

Robert “Rob” Christie, 65, of Noblesville passed away January 10, 2022.  He was born January 25, 1956 in Dearborn, MI, son of the late James and Elsie (Beitler) Christie.

Rob was a graduate of Bentley High School in MI and attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI.

At the age of 23, Rob began working in construction which continued to his profession of more than 40 years. His career included a wide range of construction experience including schools, churches, commercial construction, historical renovations, hotels, indoor water parks, custom homes and beyond. The last 20 years of his career, Robert managed over 250 million dollars of completed projects which included: Almond Acres Charter School in Paso Robles, CA. Also, Welford Sanders which won a Gold Medal award in the state of WI for best historical renovation project in 2019, and The Grand Hotel historical renovation and hotel addition located in Mackinac Island, MI.

During the Junior Olympic National Trials in 1970, Rob was sixth place in the one meter and three-meter springboard diver competition in Detroit, MI. He was World Champion in 1996 for Stanley Tool nail driving contest in Las Vegas, NV. In 2007 and 2009, Rob qualified for the US Senior Open Golf Sectional in AZ.

Robert was truly a family man who also enjoyed spending time with friends. He kept many mementos which represented someone important in his life or a memory of a particular time cherished. He constantly sent messages to simply let people know he was thinking of them. There is not a just one adjective that fully encapsulates who Rob was to his entire family and friends.

He was a bold force with an eclectic collection of nuances, catch phrases and mannerisms. When Rob said, “let me tell you something” and everyone listened because there was a great story to follow. Rob was gifted with a magnetic personality that people gravitated to. He could fill a room with his presence, then his loud music, and immediately there would be irresistible laughter and a very good time.

Rob truly lived for each day; always present with you in the moment. He was a fierce competitor and loved to push himself and accomplish many things with complete ease. Through the years, Rob enjoyed skiing, golfing, swimming, diving, biking, tennis, billiards, darts and so much more.

Rob’s legacy lives on through his wife, children, grandchildren, and all the amazing friendships made over his 65 years of life. The loss of his great spirit here, and the pain we feel now, is eased by knowing he accepted Christ as his Savior and is living eternally in Heaven.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 43 years, Marlene Christie; daughters, Monica (Brandon) Pollom, Janelle (Stefan) Davenport; grandchildren, Cecilia and Dominic Pollom, and Dax, Mays, and Gia Davenport.
