Richard A. Kelner, 87 of Carmel passed peacefully November 9, 2021. He was born July 20, 1934 to Vincent and Margaret (Stunyo) Kelner in Gary IN. He was a graduate of Bishop Noll High School and a Navy Veteran.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Maureen H. (Higgins) Kelner.
In addition to a loving and devoted husband, Richard was a father of three sons, Rick (Laura), Mike (Melinda) and Ron (Barbara); proud grandfather of eleven grandchildren, Ross, Alexandra, Joe, Elise, Sophie, Anne, Dave, Kate, Andrew, Caroline, and Jack; great-grandfather of eight.
Richard started his career in property management for Sinclair Oil after leaving the Navy in 1959. After 18 years with Sinclair, Richard joined Simon Property Group, overseeing Lafayette and Castleton Square, before retiring in 1999. In retirement Richard enjoyed a part time role working at Menards in Carmel where he met and made many friends.
Richard was a devout member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel parish and an active member in the Knights of Columbus. Richard will be missed by his family, many friends, and fellow parishioners.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 10:00 am, in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church, with the Memorial Mass beginning at 11:00 am. A reception in the church social hall will follow the services.
