Raymond "Ray" Francis Hall

November 17, 1950 ~ August 15, 2023 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Obituary

Raymond (Ray) Francis Hall, 72, went to be with his Heavenly Father August 15, 2023, after a short battle with cancer.

Ray was born November 17,1950 in Berea, OH, the youngest son of Florian Arthur and Delphine Mary (Gilgenbach) Hall. He resided in Olmstead Township until 1967 when they moved to Olmstead Falls, OH where Ray attended and graduated from North Olmstead High School in 1969.

Following High School, Ray attended Lorain Community College and worked at Hall Brothers Meats, the family business.  He then went to school at Control Data Corporation and started his first computer job at Storage Technology Corporation where he worked for 23 yrs.  Before retiring in 2021, he worked for various other computer services companies.  Ray was a member of the Ohio National Guard.

In 1978 he met Charlotte Marie Rice, and they were married June 23, 1979 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elyria, OH.  The happy couple eventually moved to Bucyrus, OH later that year.  Their son, Brian was born in 1982, Joseph in 1985, and daughter, Sara in 1987.

The family moved to South Bend, IN in 1992 and then Carmel, IN in 1997, where Ray retired in 2021 and enjoyed many family gatherings and trips.

A long lover of airplanes, Ray obtained his private pilot’s license and thoroughly enjoyed sharing his love of flying with his wife, nieces, and nephews.

Ray’s other passionate hobby was trains.  Ray enjoyed watching trains with his son Brian and collecting Lionel and other O Scale trains.  One of his greatest joys was to share his model train layouts with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The word stranger was never in Ray’s dictionary.  He befriended every person he met and shared his love of life with everyone.  He was a jokester and never had a bad day.  He was a great family man and was very proud of all the accomplishments of his children.  His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Charlotte; sons, Brian Hall, and Joseph (Amanda) Hall; daughter, Sara (D.J.) Repp; grandchildren, Mason Hall, June Hall, and Waylon Hall; brothers, Jerry Hall and Richard Hall; sister, Carol Hall; numerous nieces, nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 4-6 pm in Our Lady Mt Carmel Catholic Church, 14598 Oak Ridge Road, Carmel where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 6 pm.
