Patricia Jane Sharp, 89, made her way to heaven on April 25, 2026. Born on April 21, 1937, Pat was eager to join the world as she was delivered by her father on the way to the hospital. That same eagerness and excitement for life and family remained with her throughout her days.
As a 1955 graduate of Rossville High School, Pat was always proud of her small-town roots and remained a lifelong Hornet fan. She spent a year at Indiana University before being introduced to her husband, Arthur, and the two were married on May 5,1957. After their children got older, Pat followed her dream of teaching, and she went to work at Rossville Elementary as a teacher’s aide. From there she went on to be the secretary and school treasurer in the superintendent’s office until her retirement after 31 years of service at the school.
Pat’s life was one of commitment and deep faith, both of which allowed her to serve her family and others well. In 1967, she became the first woman elder at the Rossville Presbyterian Church. She served in many capacities over the years including as an elder, deacon, clerk of session, Sunday School teacher, assistant treasurer, and a committee chair. One of her proudest moments was serving as the building chair when the Rossville congregation voted to build a new church. After relocating to the Indianapolis area in 2002 to be closer to her children and their families, she transferred her membership to Zionsville Presbyterian Church (ZPC), where she was an important part of the formation of ZPC’s senior group, Second Half Adventurers. She also served as a deacon, as well as a member of Loose Threads and the Great Banquet Community.
Never one to sit still, Pat worked for several years for the Estridge Group as a greeter in their sales department. It was a perfect fit for a woman who knew how to make amazing cookies and had the gift of hospitality.
In addition to her parents, Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Sharp, who passed away in 1978; daughter, Lori Kline; and daughter-in-law Susan Sharp.
She is survived by her son, David Sharp, of Seneca, SC; daughter, Linda Forler (Joe) of Zionsville, IN; son-in-law, Kent Kline of Zionsville, IN; grandchildren, Derek Kline, Maggie Kline, Lainey Timmermon (Ryan), Sophia Pokrzywa (Kevin), Caroline Sharp, Andrew Forler, and Braden Forler; Pat was also blessed with four beautiful great granddaughters, Emery, Charlotte and Olive Timmermon and Millie Pokrzywa.
