Murray Hirschhorn

Murray Hirschhorn, 66, of Westfield, passed away May 24, 2025. He was born in Bethpage, NY, on July 22, 1958, the son of the late Herbert and Marilyn (Smith) Hirschhorn.

As a 1976 graduate of East Islip high school, Murray continued his education at Long Island University, where he received his bachelor's degree in accounting. He worked as an Insurance Examiner for the New York State Insurance Department for 35 years before retiring.

Murray enjoyed playing chess and was an avid reader, especially the Bible. He also spent time with fellow employees playing bridge. While living at Wellbrooke of Westfield, Murray would assist in helping new residents who were moving in and getting them adjusted to their environment. He truly had a tender heart and wanted to serve.

Survivors include his brothers, William (Emma) Hirschhorn and Ron (Lisa) Hirschhorn; nieces, Kristine, Deborah, and Rebekah Hirschhorn.

The Funeral Service to honor Murray’s life will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 11 am in Bussell Family Funerals, 1621 E Greyhound Pass, Carmel.

Burial will follow in Carmel Cemetery.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Murray, be given to the Community Bible Fellowship Church- Building Fund, 231 E. 161st Street, Westfield, of which Murray was a member. Envelopes will be available at the service.
