Mona H. Breland

Mona H. Breland, age 96, of Indianapolis, passed on to eternal life January 23, 2021.  She was born January 17, 1925, the youngest of 11 children, to Ova and Clemmie Robinson in Hardinsburg, KY.

After high school, Mona attended Spencerian Business College in Louisville, KY, where she worked for the Louisville Board of Education.  For thirteen years prior to relocating in Indianapolis, she was on the administrative staff of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, last serving as administrative assistant to the Vice President.  She always enjoyed her large family.  She took pleasure in music, her many bridge clubs, reading, cooking and handwork including needlepoint and quilting (done totally by hand).  Mona’s children were her pride.  She was always there when needed, the rock of the family.  She was a doting mother, a grandmother who adored her granddaughter, and was her confidante.  Her great-granddaughter was so special to her and she proudly boasted of her academic achievements and karate expertise.  She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church and the Rehm Guild.

Mona was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Robert E. Breland, her parents, 3 brothers and 7 sisters.

She is survived by daughter, Monna G. Breland, Indianapolis; son, Robert E. Breland Jr. (Laurel); granddaughter, Amy S. Alich (Stephen) and great-granddaughter, Kristin Alich, all of Concord, CA.

It breaks our heart to lose her, but we are comforted by the wonderful memories that will always bring a smile to our hearts.  Death takes the body, God holds the soul, our minds cherish the memories.  Our hearts feel the loss.  Our faith lets us know we will meet her again.

Private funeral services will take place at Second Presbyterian Church, 7700 N. Meridian St, Indianapolis, IN. 

Interment in Resthaven Cemetery, Louisville, KY.
