Mary Alice (Revis) Collins was born the fifth and final child of Ora and Frieda (Macy) Revis on November 30, 1929. Mary returned to her Heavenly Father on November 12, 2024, at the age of 94. Mary was born and raised in Westfield, IN. Shortly after graduating from Westfield High School, Mary accepted the proposal of Robert Collins, and their marriage was cherished for 64 years. Throughout their married years Mary and Bob lived in several locations, each was within the town/city of Westfield.
Mary thrived in many career roles. Immediately after graduation, she started working for the State of Indiana in Gross Income Taxes and later at the BMV in downtown Indianapolis. Mary’s older sisters, Doris and Rosie, had been working at an Indianapolis bank; they encouraged her to work at the same branch. Once employed, the three Revis girls took the bus from Westfield to Indianapolis daily. This position launched Mary’s principal occupation in which she worked for nearly forty years in various positions at banks. Her initial work was in filing and traveler’s checks and ultimately, she became an instrumental part of the mortgage department at Wainwright Bank and Trust of Noblesville. Mary and Bob worked full-time jobs while simultaneously starting a company in which they cleaned businesses in the evenings. Mary dedicated the last eighteen years of her working life to the Westfield Friends Meeting/Church as their secretary.
Mary was raised in Quaker faith and traditions and attended Westfield Friends Meeting/Church for nearly eighty-five years. As a child and through early adulthood, she shared her beautiful voice with the congregates. Mary loved flowers and manicured striking flower beds each spring and summer. Mary was exceptionally talented at decorating. Inside and outside of the house she masterfully decorated each holiday season. Her love of “redbirds” shown as they were intricately woven into the Christmas displays which brought the touch of Mary to the season. Mary had a love of animals, she and Bob gave affection and an amazing home to countless dogs, cats, and chickens throughout their housekeeping years.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Collins; siblings, Noel Revis, Elbert Revis, Doris (Goins), and Rozella (Heinzmann).
Mary is survived by loved ones; cousin, Patty Stewart; nieces and nephews; and friends, Tom and Deanna Tomaszewski; Norma Barley; Ed and Veronica Macy; Doug and Kris Shoemaker; and the Miller family.
A Special thanks to the staff of The Restoracy of Whitestown for their care of Mary; and to Donna Bussell, of Bussell Family Funerals, for making this season easier for her loved ones.
A graveside service will be held at Summit Lawn Cemetery, Westfield, IN.
