Martin Oman Obituary

Martin Ray Oman, 89, of Carmel, passed away unexpectedly on February 27, 2026. He was born on February 14, 1937, in South Bend, IN, son of Walter N. and Aileen D. (Martin) Oman.

Martin was a graduate of Riley High School in South Bend. He received his vocational training in Computer Technology. Before retiring, Martin was employed with Indiana Bell as a Computer System Analyst. Ray also served his country as a member of the Indiana Army National Guards.

Having a heart to serve others, Martin was involved with building projects and the maintenance at Carmel Friends Church. Also, he was involved with the Friends Disaster Relief Service in rebuilding homes which were destroyed by tornadoes. Martin appreciated the time he worked in helping build a mission children’s school in the country of Belize.

Most importantly, Martin valued time spent with his family. He enjoyed the adventures of traveling, camping and tinkering with cars.

In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen (Hock) Oman, and second wife Virginia (Avery) Oman; and brother, Gary D. Oman.

Survivors include his daughters, Karen (Ron) Feltz of Celina, OH, and Kim (Russ) Abell of Wabash, IN; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and brother, Ronald (Peg) Oman.

A Time of Fellowship will take place at 10 am on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Carmel Friends Church, of which he was an active member. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11 am.
