Lynn (Henning) Degnan, 81, of Westfield, passed away November 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, leaving a legacy of joy, warmth, and unforgettable laughter. She was born April 9, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio, Lynn was the cherished daughter of Wilbert and Loretta (DeMars) Henning.
A proud graduate of St. Ursula Academy in 1961, Lynn continued her education at Marygrove College in Detroit, where she earned a degree in education in 1965. The following year, she married her high school sweetheart, Dan Degnan, in a beautiful ceremony at Gesu Catholic Church in Toledo. Together, they embarked on a life full of adventure, raising their family and creating homes across the country for 55 years.
Lynn had a remarkable ability to turn strangers into lifelong friends and create bonds that spanned decades. A devoted mother, she balanced raising her children with working in various fields, leaving a mark of kindness and dedication wherever she went. She found her greatest joys in the company of family and friends, gatherings filled with love, stories, and, of course, her distinctive laughter that could light up any room.
A woman of many talents, Lynn excelled as a card player, cookbook collector, seamstress, and storyteller. She was also a philosopher of sorts, reminding all to approach life with humor and wisdom, often captured in her playful admonition to "never swim in your tuxedo."
Lynn's memory will be cherished by her brother Richard (Mary) Henning; her children, Dan (Michelle) Degnan and Kelly Degnan-Lauster; her beloved grandchildren, Zach Lauster, Charlie Degnan, Emmy Lauster, Max Degnan, Sam Degnan, and Danny Degnan IV.
She is reunited in peace with her parents and her beloved husband, Dan.
Lynn's love, laughter, and unshakable spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her family invites those who loved her to honor her legacy by continuing to spread kindness and joy, just as she did every day of her extraordinary life.
A Committal Service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 28 2025 in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 2224 Dorr Street, Toledo, OH 46307.
