Lee Mohs, 82 of Carmel, passed away November 26, 2018. He was born on November 6, 1936 in Cold Spring, MN, son of Leander and Hildegarde Iten Mohs.
Lee was a 1953 graduate of St. Boniface High School in Cold Spring, MN. He was a US Navy veteran and was stationed on the USS Des Moines and sailed the world. Lee then continued his education at St. Cloud State College, graduating in 1962.
Lee had an extensive 25 years career with the Federal Government in the Internal Revenue Service. He began as an agent in Collection, continuing in Audit and retired as Chief of the Criminal Investigation Division in Indiana in 1989. In his retirement years he worked in the State Department of Professional Licensing for the Attorney General’s Office.
Lee enjoyed maintaining a beautiful home and manicured lawn. His attending Bible Studies through the years at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Parish allowed Lee to develop many great and treasured friendships. The fellowship with his many Christian friends was important to him. However, the greatest joy and achievement in life was spending time with his 5 grandchildren. He above all loved his family deeply and will be forever missed.
In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his brother Claude Mohs and sister, Rosie Koppy.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 57 years, Phyllis Gottwalt Mohs; son, Daniel (Cheryl) Mohs of Indianapolis, IN and daughter, Lynne (Jason) Isaacs of Noblesville, IN; grandchildren, Joshua, Daniel and Emily Isaacs, and Lindsey and Nicole Mohs; brother, Melvin (Suzy) Mohs of Tuscon, AZ; sisters, Donna Hansel of Cold Spring, MN and Pat (Andy) Rossmeisel of Minneapolis, MN.
Family and friends will gather on Monday, December 3, 2018 from 4-7 pm in Our Lady Mt Carmel Catholic Church, of which he was longtime member. The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 10:30 am with visitation one hour prior at 9:30 am in the church. Interment will follow in Carmel Cemetery.
