Kenneth Evans, 87, of Duluth, GA, formerly of Carmel, IN, went home to heaven on November 14, 2025. He was preceded to heaven by his beloved wife of 67 years, Donna, by only two months. Ken was born on September 28, 1938, son of Clayton and Floreine Evans.
He was blessed to sponsor several children with Compassion International and was able to visit Marianne Valera in the Philippines twice, including her wedding day.
Ken was a faithful husband, father and servant of Christ. He started his career as a tool and die maker, salesman, machinist, and started several businesses including Evans Lawn Equipment and Ken’s Precision Products with only a high school education and a tool and die apprenticeship. Ken enjoyed the challenge of solving many problems, finding solutions, and ways to make challenging things.
Ken was a Gideon for many years and enjoyed passing out bibles and speaking at churches. He also served as Executive Secretary on the Associated Committee of Friends Indian Affairs (ACFIA). He partook and led many work trips to several Indian reservations in Iowa, Oklahoma and Alabama.
He enjoyed supporting Children’s Lifelines in Haiti and was able to go on a mission/work trip there as well. He helped assemble sewing machines so they could teach the children a trade, make uniforms, and have hope for a future career.
After retiring from the machine shop, Ken volunteered many hours at St Vincent’s hospital in Carmel, IN. He also continued to plow snow for many people and the church, always for free, consistent with his generous character and servant’s heart.
Ken enjoyed playing games, spending time with his “grand” kids, doing puzzles and keeping beautiful flowers.
Survivors include sons; Michael Evans (Jennifer Collins) and Mark Evans (Cindy); and sister, Barbara Schrock.
A visitation will take place in The Bridge Church 1965 Evergreen Blvd Suite 200, Duluth, GA 30096 on Saturday November 22, 2025, from 1:30-2:55 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 3:00 pm.
A graveside committal service will be held in Carmel Cemetery on Friday November 28, 2025, at 3:00 pm, followed by an open house in Carmel Friends Church, 651 W Main Street, Carmel, IN 46032.
If desired, contributions can be made to either Carmel Friends Church, or The Bridge Church.
