Katherine “Maxine” Basham, 90, of Fishers, entered Heaven’s gates on Monday, October 12, 2020. She was born September 14,1930, in Noblesville, daughter of Clarence and Mamie Seymour.
Maxine was a 1948 graduate of Fishers High School. She lived in the Fishers area her entire life.
Maxine and William Basham were married in 1953. They enjoyed traveling and for many years were active in the Do-Se Squares Square Dancers club. They attended Trinity Wesleyan Church of Fishers.
Maxine worked for several local businesses including Heath Real Estate and Mio’s Pizza. She retired from Hamilton Southeastern Schools after 20 years of serving meals to elementary students.
Though Maxine and Bill had no biological children, she was like a mother to her nephew, Bill. After her husband Bill passed away, Maxine moved in and lived with her nephew, Bill and his wife Cindy, where she lived for more than 20 years. She was also like a grandmother to their children: Carmen, Megan and Heather, and later great-grandmother to their children.
She spent her last year and a half in the Memory Care Unit of Allisonville Meadows, where she was well loved and cared for.
Maxine was preceded in death by her older sister, Ruth Marie Rushton.
Survivors include her nephew, Bill (Cindy) Rushton of Fishers; great-nieces; Carmen (Tim) Lawrence of McCordsville, Megan (John) Dugan of Indianapolis, and Heather (David) Strader of Simpsonville, South Carolina; great-nieces and nephews, Charlie Dugan, Kate and Luke Lawrence, and Titus and Stella Strader.
She leaves behind many happy memories to cherish, but certainly a void in our hearts.
A private family Memorial Service will take place at a later date.
Bussell Family Funerals is privileged to assist the family in arrangements.
