Karl Muszar, Jr. Obituary

Karl E. Muszar, Jr, 94, of Indianapolis, was called to his heavenly home June 22, 2026.  He was born on July 13, 1931 in Indianapolis, IN to Karl E. Muszar, Sr. and Golda Lucille (Martin) Jones.

Karl was a 1949 graduate of Howe High School.  He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.  After basic training he was assigned to the Photography School in Denver, CO.  From there he was sent to Newfoundland where he worked in the base photo lab.  After 18 months he returned through New Jersey to Denver where he taught in the Photo School until his discharge in 1955.

After his discharge he returned to his home in Indianapolis and was introduced by his sister, Boni, to his future wife, Barbara Joan Foulk.  Barbara was instrumental in bringing him to the Saviour.  They were married on July 3, 1955.  After their marriage he attended Purdue University and in 1958 earned a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering.  He would later earn his Professional Engineer’s license.

Karl worked for Allison Gas Turbine Division of GM until 1975 at which time he started his own consulting business, Metallurgical Engineering of Indiana, Inc.  His abilities in product liability and failure analysis made him much sought after as an expert witness.

Karl was an avid photographer and enjoyed vacationing out West.  He liked to hike up a mountain and take a picture of himself at the top.

It was important to Karl that his children receive a Christian education, so he enrolled them at Heritage Christian School.  He served on their Board of Directors from 1971-2001.

Karl was an active member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church.  He had three loves – the Lord Jesus Christ; his wonderful wife, Barbara; and his family.  The care of his wife in her last years as her health failed, was an example to both his family and those around him of God’s faithfulness to his children.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara J. (Foulk) Muszar; his sister, Boni Kennelly; and his stepbrother, Wesley Jones.

His is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Mark) Anderson; son, Jeffrey Muszar; granddaughter, Brittany (Alex) Winfield; great grandchildren, Krystiyan Hall, Czarina Green, Mikhail and Odessa Winfield; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 10 am in Colonial Hills Baptist Church, of which he was an active member, and where the funeral service will begin at 12 noon.

Burial will follow in Union Chapel Cemetery.
