June Ann Roberts, 90, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023, at Independence Village of Carmel. The daughter of Frank Moffit Roberts and Violet (Johnston) Roberts, June Ann was a lifelong resident of Indiana. She was born in Eagletown, Indiana, and graduated from Westfield High School in 1951. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Butler University in 1963 and an MBA from Indiana University in 1967.
Insurance was June Ann's career focus; she conducted property/casualty insurance research and product development for 38 years. She worked at American States Insurance Company for six years, Statesman Insurance Company for four years, and retired from Meridian Mutual Insurance Company after 28 years. June Ann earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 1966. She was a member of the Society of Insurance Research (a board member for six years); Toastmasters International for eight years; and a lifetime member of the CPCU Society.
June Ann's hobbies included traveling worldwide, attending plays and concerts, reading, photography and golf. She also had a love for horses. Her favorite community project was as chair of the 1987 Carmel Sesquicentennial Historic Sites with a walking tour of 45 sites and a driving tour of 33 sites. The Loom House at Conner Prairie was a donation from June Ann's family farm.
In addition to her parents, June Ann was preceded in death by an infant older brother, Frank Thomas.
Survivors include her cousins, Joe Roberts of Westfield, Lee Dolan and Marge of Carmel. She will be greatly missed by family and friends from all segments of her life, especially by Jane Walters, who met June Ann in 1983 when they became neighbors and remained June Ann's devoted friend for the past 40 years.
A visitation will take place Monday, September 18, 2023 at 11 am in Christ United Methodist Church of Westfield, 318 N. Union Street, where the Funeral Service will begin at 12 noon.
Burial will follow at Carmel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of June Ann, may be made to Christ United Methodist Church of Westfield or Carmel Clay Historical Society. Envelopes will be available at the church.
