Joseph B. Mutchler

Joseph B. Mutchler, 95, Carmel, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023. He was born in Chillicothe, OH on June 1, 1927 to Robert and Florence (Schilder) Mutchler. Joe was a 1945 graduate of Chillicothe High School then served in the US Army during World War II. Following his service in the Army, Joe graduated from Ohio University in 1951. He worked for Weco Products of Chicago for 12 years then went to work for Mead Products a Division of Mead Corporation, retiring in 1990.

Joe was a charter member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church; he sang in the choir, served as President of the school board, was a member of the Adoration Society, as well as a member of Lay Missionary of Charities. Joe had a strong devotion to his Catholic faith.

One of Joe’s interests was playing golf and poker with his church buddies. Wanna was the love of his life and he cared for her till the end. He was a very loving, giving, and caring father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Wanna (Davis) Mutchler; daughters, Kathy (Bill) Lazzaretti , Nancy  (Jim) Smith,  Ellen Spichiger, and Mary Mutchler (Jackie Baker); five grandchildren, Marika (Mike) Waddell, Joe (Heather) Lazzaretti, Rebecca (Jason) Deckard, Stephanie (Brian) Heman and Christopher Spichiger; 10 great-grandchildren, Austin, Isaac, and Andrew  Deckard, Alec, Kathryn and Grant Waddell, Brynlee and Parker Heman, Tyler and Teo Lazzaretti.

Family and friends will gather at 11 am on Friday, March 3, 2023 in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 14596 Oak Ridge Road, Carmel, IN 46032, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 12 noon.

A Committal Service with Military Honors will take place at 1:30 pm in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 9001 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
