Johnnie Ray Blume, 65, of Indianapolis, passed away and went into the presence of his loving Savior on June 17, 2025. He was born in Honolulu, HI on August 1, 1959, son of Raymond L. and Frances J. (Mulder) Blume.
Following graduation from Southport High School in 1977, Johnnie joined the US Air Force, where he learned the skill of an aircraft maintenance technician. He later joined the US Army Reserve as well. Before retiring, Johnnie worked several years at FedEx. He also was a former member of the Thompson Road Baptist Church, Indianapolis.
Johnnie loved spending time outdoors enjoying and appreciating each season of the year. He was happy to debate anyone at any time, especially regarding politics and life topics. An endearing trait Johnnie expressed was the times his conversations would become rather long winded.
In addition to his parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by his uncle, Randy Blume.
Survivors include his sisters, Mary (Fred) O’Brien and Belinda Stone; uncle, Steve (Anne) Blume; aunts, Jane (Jim) LaFleur and Pam (Alan) Hemphill; several nieces, nephews and great, great nephews.
Family and friends will gather Friday, June 27, 2025, at 11 am in the Clayton Christian Church, 5110 S. State Road 39, Clayton, where the funeral service will take place at 1 pm.
Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Johnnie, may be given to the Wounded Warriors or the American Heart Association.
