John Kenneth Moorse, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in Carmel, Indiana. He was born on February 10, 1942, in New Brunswick, Canada, to Thomas and Margaret "Mugs" Moorse. John was the second of three boys and is survived by two brothers, Brian Moorse of Nova Scotia, CA, and Richard Moorse of Ontario, CA.
John was a proud alumnus of the University of Toronto, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Economics and an MBA. John loved music (particularly classical, bluegrass, and opera), good food, and red wine, and was an avid tennis player. It was in the tennis club in Ontario, Canada, that he met his match, Carol Haughton. The two married, and throughout their lives, John was a devoted husband to Carol Moorse, who preceded him in death in January 2024. Their life together was a great adventure that took them from Ontario to California, Indiana, London, Belgium, and finally, to their retirement haven in Naples, Florida.
John’s unwavering values and work ethic propelled him to executive leadership positions at both Amsco Hall Surgical and Zimmer. He was a steadfast rock for both his family and colleagues. His perseverance and kind heart were the cornerstones of his character, and he imparted these values to all who knew him.
John is survived by his children: Debbie (Steve) Golliher, Cheryll (Kevin) Knopf, and Michael (Susan McCann) Moorse. He also leaves behind eight beloved grandchildren and five adored grand dogs, a testament to the love and joy he brought to his family.
John Moorse's legacy is a rich tapestry of professional achievements, personal triumphs, and the love and guidance he bestowed upon his family and friends. His strength, integrity, and kindness will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who know him, ensuring that his memory will endure for generations.
A Celebration of Life will take place from 12-3 pm Saturday, July 20, 2024. Please contact Debbie Golliher, 209-481-0216, for information regarding the service location.
