Joanne Ruth (Tranter) Miller, 75, of Noblesville, passed away December 13, 2019. She was born in South Heights, PA on June 1, 1944, daughter of Alvin and Garnett (DeLong) Tranter.
Joanne was a graduate of Moon Township High School. Following a blind date, she married Larry Miller 3 months later on October 19, 1963 and was a devoted wife of more than 56 years.
Following her marriage, Joanne moved with her husband several times as he was deployed in the military. In 1969, they settled in Indiana where she lived until her death. Throughout the years Joanne worked as an Administrative Assistant and Sales Representative at a variety of retail establishments along with several years of pre-school teaching. In addition, she spent time staying home to raise her children.
Joanne had the gift of craft making, sewing, and baking which she would partake in often. The holidays were special to her as this allowed the family time to come together. Joanne was an active member of the New Hope Presbyterian Church for the past 4 years after moving from the southwest side of Indianapolis to Noblesville.
In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her brother Ronald Tranter and sister Norma Jean Colangelo.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 56 years, Larry Miller of Noblesville; children, Robert (Paige) Miller of Carmel and Roxanne (Don) Bell of Indianapolis; siblings, Rebecca (Bill) Nestor, Linda (Frank) Martinand Sam (Sue) Tranter; grandchildren, Christopher Jackson, Heather Jackson, Bronson Rago, Josh Bell, Alicia Ownbey, Deana Dennison-Bell and Rich Bell; 11 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Calling will be Friday, December 20, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm with an additional calling on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 10:00 am in New Hope Presbyterian Church, 12550 Brooks School Road, Fishers, IN 46037 where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 am.
Burial will take place at 1:00 pm in Lincoln Memory Gardens Cemetery, 6809 S Indianapolis Road. Whitestown, IN 46075.
