Janice Lynn (Cain) Mitchell

Janice Lynn Mitchell, 69, of Whitestown, IN passed away May 30, 2026. She was born on July 18, 1956, in Lafayette, IN, to Marion and Frances (Coffman) Cain.

Janice was a graduate of Jefferson High School and continued her education at Ivy Tech, where she earned an Associate of Applied Science in Industrial Supervision Technology as well as an Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration.

On July 16, 1977, Janice married Leo Mitchell, with whom she shared many devoted years until his passing in 2013.

As an avid reader, Janice enjoyed exploring mystery and romance novels. She loved decorating for the holidays and took great joy in spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; siblings, John Cain, Jerry Cain, and Judith (Cain) Gallardo.

Survivors include her daughter, Autumn (Brian) Zawadzki; grandchildren, Dante Zawadzki, Francesca Zawadzki, Gideon Zawadzki, Aramis Zawadzki, and Artemisia Zawadzki; and sister, Jackie (Cain) Neal.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 12 noon in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 14598 Oak Ridge Road, Carmel, where the Funeral Service will begin at 2 pm.

Janice’s final resting place, alongside her husband Leo, will take place in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 1200 Sagamore Parkway N, Lafayette, IN, at 1 pm on Monday, June 8, 2026.
