Janeen Rennard Obituary

Janeen Anderson Rennard from Carmel, Indiana passed away at the age of 87 on Monday, December 19, 2022 into the loving arms of Jesus after spending time in hospice surrounded by her large family.

Janeen was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 20, 1935 to Charles and Kathryn Anderson who proceeded her in death. She graduated from Broad Ripple High School where she met and later married her high school sweetheart James (Jim) Rennard who proceeded her in death after 64 years of marriage.

Janeen’s existence and greatest achievements revolved around her large family. Janeen is survived by her 6 children: Debra (Mike) Goldsmith, James (Angie) Rennard, Jr., David (Carrie) Rennard, Cheryl (Mark) Noll, Ellen Rennard, and Rebecca (Joe) Bitner; as well as her brothers, Charles (Pam) Anderson Jr. and Jay Anderson; 20 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren.

Janeen was an active member of Broad Ripple United Methodist Church from 1958 to 2012. Known for singing in the chancel choir and playing hand bells in the bell choir, she would also frequently be seen providing baked goods. She was a great musical talent, long time pianist, often asked to sing solos and duets at church services. She sang in the commercial jingle for the National Sports Festival Indianapolis as well as 9/11 memorial events. A stroke in 2012 prevented her from continuing her musical endeavors and church activities, but her will and determination enduring long and strenuous rehabilitation is an inspiration to all that knew her.

A devoted homemaker, Janeen was also a Cub Scout and Webelo Den Mother. She spent time employed by Carmel High School working in the cafeteria.  Later in life she worked at SM&P Utility Resources, followed by Small Change consignment shop which she dearly enjoyed. She very much enjoyed camping, attending Nascar races with her husband, playing cards, Dominos, Bingo, and the computer game Words.

Janeen was very good at knitting. Family and friends can be seen wearing her products to this day. She loved animals of all types, especially her dogs, and was a big fan of chocolate malts.

Donations may be made to any of the many Humane Societies in her memory.
