Herbert E Howell

Herbert E. Howell, 86, of Carmel, passed away November 11, 2020.  He was born in Indianapolis, son of Howard M. and Gladys G. (Cale) Howell.

Herbert was proud of the fact he shared his birthday with the inception of Steak N Shake restaurant.  He was a 1952 graduate of Ben Davis High School. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy.  Herbert worked at Allison Transmission for several years before retiring. He also worked as Security for IMS-Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Because of his generosity, Herbert was eager to help anyone in their time of need. Herbert was also known for his kind and gentle spirit.

In addition to his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Howell; dear friend, Shirley Lou Manley.  While a resident in Green House Cottages, Shirley was very helpful in caring for Herbert.

A private burial took place in Arcadia Cemetery.
