October 5, 1924 - March 30, 2021
Helen May Amadio (née Linker) 96, of Havertown, PA. died peacefully in the care of her loving family on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. She was the devoted wife of Lawrence (Larry) Amadio and cherished mother to 7 children: Diane (Jack) DiFiore, Lawrence Amadio, Christine (Robb) Long, Kathleen (Jay) Chegia, and David (Dana) Amadio.
Helen grew up in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia with her parents William and Helen Linker and four brothers, George, William, Francis, and Tommy. After high school, Helen worked as a comptometer operator for Bond Bread. She danced her way into the arms of her future husband at Wagner’s Ballroom in Olney. Helen and Larry married in 1949 and together ran a family business. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with family. Big Sunday family dinners were the norm and life events, and celebrations always brought the entire extended family together at Helen and Larry’s with Helen as the hostess.
In her later years, she was blessed with time to travel. She looked forward to her trips to the Jersey shore and the Pocono Mountains with relatives and the St. Richard’s Seniors. Helen traveled to Europe and cruised the Caribbean. She never missed a Phillies game on television and still loved them when they lost. She was a serious pinochle player, bowled in the Thursday afternoon league at Wynnewood Lanes and never missed a Tuesday afternoon Bingo game at Surrey Senior Center in Havertown.
But the true loves of her life were her 7 grandchildren: Cara Seker (DiFiore), Eric Falkenberg, Luke Falkenberg, Abby Long, Sara Long, Kali Falkenberg and David V. Amadio.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by two children, twins, Karen and Kenneth Amadio; grandson, Andrew DiFiore, and when she passed away, she was only weeks away from meeting her first great-grandchild, Grace Naomi.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a family visitation Friday, May 21, 2021 at 10 am in St. Denis Church, Havertown with A Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 am.
