Gerald Lenz, 83, of Noblesville, IN, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2026. He was born on January 30, 1942, in Houghton, MI to Joseph Martin and Lucille (Manderfield) Lenz.
As a field engineer with Hughes Aircraft Company, Gerald’s career allowed him to become the company’s most experienced specialist on the TOW anti-tank missile system. His work took him around the world including Vietnam, South Korea, and Thailand, training and supporting allied military forces. Gerald received many honors including Achievement Awards from Hughes; letters of commendation from senior U.S. and South Vietnamese Generals during the Vietnam War. Also, repeated letters of appreciation from the Republic of Korea Army, and a recognition plaque from the U.S. Military Advisory Group in Thailand.
Gerald was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading war and science fiction. He was a longtime and committed parishioner at St. Matthew Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his siblings, Bernice (Jim) Dunn, Jack (Grace) Lenz, Paul (Joann), Jim (Joyce) Lenz, Frank (Adele) Lenz, and Bob (Tila) Lenz.
Survivors include his wife, Nuanchan Lenz; children, Christopher Lenz and Douglas (Jessica) Lenz; grandchild, Lyric Lenz; and siblings, Peter (Carolyn) Lenz, Tom Lenz, and Joan Wendt.
Family and Friends will gather Friday, August 14, 2026 at 2 pm in St. Matthew Catholic Church, 4100 E. 56th Street, Indianapolis, where the Memorial Mass will be conducted at 3 pm. A Peace Meal will follow at 4 pm
