George Stamper, Sr. Obituary

George Richard Stamper, Sr., 86, of Westfield, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, May 23, 2019.  He was born on August 21, 1932 in Indianapolis, son of Leroy R. and Dorothy E. Richardson Stamper.

George was a 1950 graduate of Carmel High School and continued his education in Engineering at Purdue University.  George was owner of Indiana Stone Company.  As result of a strong work ethic, that became his lifetime occupation.  He also was a trucker for several years.

Spending time in his garden, going fishing, appreciating his dogs, and being in the outdoors brought George great pleasure.  He also enjoyed working on trucks and could repair most any vehicle.

George was ready to discuss the Bible at any opportunity given him. He was a committed member of Jehovah’s Witness Springmill Congregation.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Eddelman Stamper; son, Alfred Stamper; daughter, Georgia Stamper; grandchildren, Elvis Diffenderfer and Chyenne Diffenderfer; sister, Judy Meadows and son-in-law, Nelson Diffenderfer.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Joella Renfrow Stamper; children, Vicki Diffenderfer, George Stamper, Jr., and Diane (Bill) Hohl; grandchildren, Shannon Diffenderfr, Nicholas Hohl, Shaun Hohl, Alicia Hohl and Cameron Stamper; great-grandchildren, Evan Hohl, Sophia Hohl; and longtime best friend, John Costimarius.

A Committal Service will take place Friday, May 31, 2019 at 11 am in Carmel Cemetery, officiated by Elder Lee Johnson.

George strongly believed his hope was in the Resurrection, John 5:28-29 and Revelation 21:4.

Joella and the Stamper family wish to express their appreciation to Great Lakes Caring Hospice for the loving care given to George.  Also, Diane remained close to her dad’s side during the last several weeks.  Jenna Kaufhold and Patsy Payne, sisters to Joella, often and willingly gave assistance.
