George L. Cancel, 76, of Sheridan, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024. He was born April 8, 1948, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to Miguel Cancel and Margarita (Lamberty) Cancel.
As a 1966 graduate from Admiral King High School in Lorain, OH, George continued his education at the University of Tulsa where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1970.
George worked as a dispatcher for several years within the trucking industry.
George loved God, family, and Ohio sports teams. He prayed fervently to his personal Savior, Jesus Christ daily for his family, by name. George was an AVID Ohio State Buckeye fan; he loved to hate the Cleveland Browns and the Guardians. George enjoyed mowing his four-acre yard and trimming trees on his property.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his children, Kimberly, Kerrie, and Brett; father in-law, Bill Dennis and mother in-law, Sandy Dennis.
Survivors include his wife, Dayna Dennis Cancel; sons, George (Yvette) Cancel, Dimitri (Katelyn) Cancel, and Bryce (Kaylee) Cancel; grandchildren, Christopher, Alex, Marianne, Zackary (Melissa), Ryan (Lindsay), Victoria, Nate (Bianca) Kate and Octavia Cancel; and many loving nieces, nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, January 3, 2024, at 2 pm in Six Points Church, 1545 W. 226 Street, Sheridan, of which George was a member, and where the Celebration of Life Service will begin at 3 pm.
A meaningful Bible verse: I Corinthians 3:16 “Do you know that God’s spirit dwells in you”
George will be cremated, then laid to rest with Dayna when the Lord calls her home.
