Frederick “Fred” William Goetsch, Jr., of Indianapolis, IN passed on to be with his Savior and Lord Thursday, May 16, 2024. A long-time resident of Indianapolis, Fred was born in New Albany, IN on November 23, 1935 to Frederick “Fred” William, Sr. and Flora Waibel Goetsch.
Fred graduated from New Albany High School in 1953 and Rose Polytechnic Institute (now Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology) in 1957, with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He worked 35 years for Indiana Bell Telephone Company/Ameritech retiring in 1991.
Following Rose graduation, Fred served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Belvoir, VA, and Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He was an active member of the Rose-Hulman Alumni Association, President in 1984, the Indiana Society of Professional Engineers, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, President of Theta Kappa house Corporation at Rose-Hulman 25 years, and the Christian Businessmen’s Committee. He was an avid Bible student; and taught a men’s Sunday School Class. Fred never married, but he has many spiritual sons having discipled them in the basics of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his older sister, Doris Naomi Goetsch Minnich; niece, Joyce Colleen Minnich; and nephew, William C. Minnich, Jr.
Survivors include his nephew, Frederick Mark (Loretta) Minnich of Michigantown, IN; great-nieces, Jennifer Robin Minnich of Michigantown, IN and Rebecca Ruth Minnich Pritchett of Round Rock, TX; and great-great-niece, Vienne Joyce Pritchett of Round Rock, TX.
Family and friends will gather Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 4-8 pm in Trinity Baptist Church, Carmel, 1010 E. 126th Street, Carmel, 46033. Also, visitation will take place Wednesday, May 29 at 10 am, one hour prior to the Funeral Service, which begins at 11 am in the church.
A Committal Service will follow in Fairview Cemetery, New Albany, IN at 3:30 pm.
In memory of Fred, donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, Carmel 1010 E. 126 th Street, Carmel, IN 46033 or the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology: Class of 1957 Scholarship, 5500 Wabash Avenue, Terre Haute, IN, 47803. Envelopes will be available at the service.
