Evelyn Mae Briggs, 91, of Mooresville, IN passed away, October 14, 2023. She was born June 28, 1932 in Danville, IL, daughter of Herbert E. and Clarice L. (Phillips) Bridgewater. In 1954, Evelyn moved to Lafayette, IN from her hometown of Georgetown, IL and later to Plainfield Healthcare in 2021.
Following graduation from Georgetown High School, Evelyn worked in retail for Eisner Grocery, S.S. Kresge, which later became K Mart, L.S. Ayres, and Target, where she retired in 1987. Other employment included working as a playground monitor at Crouch School in the Lafayette School Corporation and finally at Purdue where she worked in housekeeping.
Evelyn was an avid bird watcher with the Cardinal being her favorite, and she collected Cardinal statues. She also enjoyed reading a variety of books including mysteries, novels, and others. Evelyn relished time spent with family, especially attending birthday parties, as well as traveling, and watching NCIS, her favorite TV show. It was also important to spend time visiting with Evelyn Summerfield, her longtime best friend.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded by her husband, Charles Briggs; brother, David Bridgewater; sister, Frances Bridgewater; and stepmother, Margaret Bridgewater.
Survivors include her son, Mark (Linda) Lamb of Westpoint, IN; daughter, Wendy Isenbarger (Rob Fillin) of Mooresville; grandchildren, Renee (Chris) Macy, of Lafayette; Eric (Deanna) Lamb, of West Lafayette, Branda (Jesse) Hicks, of Westpoint, and Avin Isenbarger, of Mooresville; great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Colson, and Maylee.
Family and friends will gather Monday, October 23, 2023 at 11 am in Springhill Christian Center, 12150 N Rooker Road, Mooresville, where the Funeral Service will begin at 12 pm.
Burial will follow in Fairfield Friends Cemetery,
