Elizabeth Bolyard, 83, of Plainfield, passed away December 27, 2020. She was born March 1, 1937 in Welch, WV, daughter of the late Norris and Margaret (Johnson) Bennett.
Liz was a graduate of Nicholas County High School in Summersville, WV. She completed studies in Transportation Management at Ball State University.
After more than 20 years, Liz retired from Consolidated Freightways in traffic and freight management. She was a longtime member of Delta Nu Alpha, an International Organization of Transportation and Logistics Professionals, where she held many leadership positions. Additionally, Liz was active in many political, civic, and Catholic organizations throughout her life. Liz was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of St. Susanna Parish in Plainfield, IN. She was a field service representative for the Office of Marriage and Family for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. In addition, she served as a leader in her home parishes for more than fifty years.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her loving companion Bruce Crager; husband, Joseph Bolyard, and three sons, Timothy, Michael, and Joseph Groves.
Survivors include her ten children; Norris Groves (Leslie), Edward Groves (Matthew Barth), Peggy Groves Rossetter (Perry), Michele Bolyard (David Smith), Judy Purdy (Bruce), Bonnie Slick, Jeanne Nordstrom, Derek Crager (Bianca), Nicole Crager Jones (Shawn), Jeff Burns; grandchildren, Bennett Rossetter, Cassandra Groves Bartels (Derek), John Snyder (Allison), Leah Snyder Ring (Colin), Jonathan Jones, Sarah Jones, Kirsten Carter (Jake), Jessica Crager, Charles Crager, William Crager; and three great-grandchildren, Riley Snyder, Abby Ring, and Nolan Snyder; and sister, Mary Virginia Rittenhouse
Liz, “Weebee” as she was also affectionately known, is also survived by a large community of friends whom she loved dearly and considered family. She will be greatly missed; however, her warmth will continue to be felt by those she loved.
A family graveside service will take place Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
