Dr. Karina P. (Pezo) Shirley

Karina Shirley, 41, of Westfield, IN went home to be with her Lord on September 3, 2023. She was born October 13, 1981 in Lima, Peru, to Raul Pezo and Telmy Ramirez. Karina graduated high school from Newton College in Lima, and later attended San Martin University in Peru and IUPUI in Indianapolis for graduate studies. She taught at IUPUI Dental School in addition to continuing her passion for dentistry as a Prosthodontist.

Karina was a member of both the American Dental Association and the John F. Johnston Prosthodontics Society.

Karina’s favorite activities included singing karaoke, cleaning, organizing, walking, dancing, and taking exceptional care of her patients.  Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family and extensive network of friends.

If you knew Karina, you knew she was known for her brilliant smile and beautiful dimples. To know Karina was also to know her deep, abiding faith in Christ. She loved her Catholic Faith, never missing an opportunity to attend Mass or gather in prayer.

Karina was preceded in death by her father, Raul Pezo and her uncle, Luis Pezo.

Survivors include her devoted husband, Jason; son, Nicholas; mother, Telmy Ramirez; sister, Mayra Pezo; brother-in-law, Robert Fucela; nephew, Gabriel Fucela; grandmother, Bertha Andrade; mother-in- law, Kathy Preston; father-in-law, Bill Shirley; sister-in-law, Alissa Shirley; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from around the world.
 

Family and Friends will gather Friday, September 8, 2023 at 1 pm in St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 4 pm.17102 Spring Mill Road, Westfield.
