Donna Joyce (Halcomb) Boughton

Donna Joyce Halcomb Boughton, 89, Indianapolis, IN, passed away May 19, 2023, eleven years to the day since the passing of her husband Lyle.   They had been married more than sixty-one years.

She was a life-long resident of Indianapolis spending her early childhood in Woodruff Place then moving to the Westside on Kessler Boulevard.  Donna graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1951 and remained lifelong friends with many of her classmates.

Donna started her work career as a customer service representative for Indiana Bell Telephone in downtown Indianapolis. Later she was an administrative assistant to the Dean of the Indiana University Medical School.  In the following years she was an administrative assistant at South Wayne Junior High School and Ben Davis Junior High School. Her interests led her to a career as a real estate agent later in life. She loved being knowledgeable of the real estate market.

Donna was a devoted mother of her two children, Matt and Kathy. Once her grandchildren arrived, a new phase of her life began as she doted over her two grandchildren, Tom and Chrissy, with Lyle as an enthusiastic partner in this most joyous pastime.

She was active in her bowling leagues, loved crossword puzzles and reading.  Knitting and sewing also filled her time with creativity.

Donna is survived by her daughter Kathryn (Daniel) Astbury, grandson Thomas Astbury (Kathrine Kirkendall), granddaughter, Christine Astbury (Zachary Reller), and two great-grandchildren, Daniel Reller and Tessa Reller.  She is also survived by her beloved sister-in-law, Jane Ross and special buddies Jimmy Warriner and Carl Lichte.

She was preceded in death by her cherished son, Matthew D. Boughton and her parents Archie and Mary Halcomb.
