She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Burns, and children Mary Elizabeth, John Webster, and Samuel James.
DeAnne graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and received her undergraduate degree from Purdue University where she lived at Glenwood Cooperative. She received a Master’s degree in Counseling later in life from Indiana Wesleyan University and started her own therapy private practice soon after. A gifted and widely respected therapist, she gained recognition training others in the transformative therapeutic approach Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). DeAnne lived a life of unwavering devotion to those she loved. Family was most important to her, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed laughter-filled get-togethers that stretched for hours, especially with her cherished college friends.
She was known for her sense of humor, storytelling, and deep empathy. People turned to DeAnne in times of joy and sorrow alike. She had a special gift for making people feel seen, heard, and loved, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
