David Greene Oliver, 63, peacefully passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021, in Carmel, Indiana. David was born November 21, 1957, to Clinton and Mary Frances Smith Oliver, the fourth of their seven children. David lived most of his life in Glennville, Georgia, moving to Carmel in 2016.
David had a tender heart for animals, especially dogs, and was rarely without a pet. He was a brilliant builder and machinist; he could construct anything his mind imagined. As a child, he delighted in building Lego constructions, cardboard mazes for his hamsters, and outdoor forts in the woods. He also drew accurate maps based on bicycle rides all over Tattnall County. As an adult, David was a machinist and welder and worked for a number of businesses in southeast Georgia.
David was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Glennville, where he enjoyed Sunday School classes, Bible studies, and relationships with fellow believers.
David was preceded in death by his niece, Rebecca Link; nephew, Clay Oliver; brother, Paul Oliver; and parents, Clinton, and Mary Frances Oliver.
He is survived by sister-in-law Lisa Oliver, sister Fran (Paul) Doupé, brother Bert (Jan) Oliver, sister Julie (Steve) Link, brother Hamp, sister Mary Ruth (Chuck) Ray, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Committal Graveside Service will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 10 am in Glennville City Cemetery, Glennville, GA.
