Charles "Chuck" E. Ray

Charles E. “Chuck” Ray, 88, of Carmel, died April 12, 2024. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN on December 1, 1935, son of Lawrence E. and Miriam (Schuler) Ray.

Chuck graduated from Shortridge High School in 1954 and DePauw University in 1958. While in college, he was a member of the Student Senate and president of Delta Chi Social Fraternity.

Chuck along with his sons, owned and operated CE Ray Company, a manufacturer’s representative agency specializing in the HVAC industry.

During his high school years in Fort Wayne, Chuck met his future wife, Frances Bagby. They married in August of 1959 and were blessed with two sons, Andrew and Steven.

Among his many interests, Chuck was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed singing in the church choir. He served as a lay Elder at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Walters.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Fran Ray; sons, Andy (Catherine) Ray, Steve (Mary) Ray; grandchildren, Abby (Zack) Brubaker, Alex (Samantha) Ray, Ian Ray, Bryan Ray, and step-granddaughter, Jennifer (Zach) Bierhaus; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Chuck will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 1 pm in Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, where the Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3 pm.
