Charles "Charlie" McBride Obituary

Charles “Charlie” William McBride born January 16, 1943, passed peacefully on December 2, 2025, at the age of 82 in his hometown of Avon, IN. He was born in High Point, NC, son of the late Rev. Charles J and Louise Lassiter McBride.

Charlie was a 1961 graduate of John D. Bassett High School and attended LeTourneau University in Longview, TX.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Carolyn Buckner McBride; daughters, Trisha (Todd) Ferguson, Molly (Joel) Frias, Delynn (Eric) Davis; sons, Kevin Harper and Ryan (Libby) Harper; 18 grandchildren, Haley, Colten, Holden, Isabelle, Juliet, Ashley, Corbin, Grant, Haven, Alex, Madison, Brylan, Andrew, Lauren, Carley, Nathan, Jaxon and Jasper; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Pat Neal; and nephews, David (Jen) Neal and Mark Neal.

He was preceded in death, but reunited in Heaven, by his parents; brother-in-law, Roy Neal, along with his mother and father-in-law, Dr. Wilbur and Charlotte Buckner.

Charlie served in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic for 4 years and was stationed for 2 years in Japan.

He was employed by Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) in 1969, which became US Airways in 1988, and worked for the airline for 32 years total, retiring as a Station Manager.

After retiring from the airline, he worked as a Caddie Master at Pinehurst Resort and traveled to other famous golf courses to train caddies.

A lifetime golfer, Charlie began playing as a teenager in High Point, NC and played until this year. He played with friends and colleagues in the Golfers of Lindbergh Field (GOLF) club in San Diego in the late 1970s and 1980s, then at Cypress Lakes in Hope Mills, NC and for the last 8 years at Prestwick Golf Course in Avon, IN.

Charlie was a faithful Christian and a member of Faith Baptist Church (Danville), who loved God and his church family very much.

When not on the golf course, he was happiest spending time with family while sitting in his recliner with a dog on his lap.

Charlie will be missed for his humor and dad jokes along with the kind compliments he always gave to those around him.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 10 am in Faith Baptist Church, 3860 E Main Street, Danville, IN, where the Funeral Service will begin at 11 am.
