Buena V. Jester

Buena (Bea) Vista Sluss Jester, 93, Indianapolis passed away Sunday, September 7, 2025, after a long illness with Alzheimer’s. Bea was born in Nickelsville, Virginia on September 22, 1931, to William (Ottis) and Zola (Farmer Powers) Sluss on the family farm.

After moving to Indiana in the early 1950’s, she met and married Raymond A. Jester, whom Bea married and was blessed with almost fifty years together before his passing in 2002.

Bea had a career as a waitress before opening JJ Alterations, her own clothing alterations shop in the 1980’s. She owned, operated, and served many customers for more than 30 years before retiring in 2013. The greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, keeping busy and making sure they were cared for.

Survivors include sons; Randy Jester and Ronald Jester, both of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Casey (Jacob) Weston, Patrick (Jennifer) Jester, April (Justin) Krowel, Jessica (Shawn) Quinn, Amanda (Michael) O’Riley; 16 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, James Jester, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 12:30 pm in the Bread of Life Ministry, 7510 E County Rd 100 Avon, Indiana, where the funeral service will begin at 2:30 pm.

Bea’s final resting place will take place in Lincoln-Memory Gardens cemetery, Whitestown.
