Bonnita “Bonnie” Wilson, 88, of Carmel, IN, passed away October 25, 2024. She was born October 5, 1936, in Cutler, IN, daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Thompson) Cook.
Bonnie was a 1954 graduate of Cutler High School. She then attended Indiana University, Kokomo where she acquired her associate’s degree in nursing. Bonnie continued her education and received her bachelor's degree (BSN) at IUPUI.
As an avid IU basketball fan, Bonnie proudly followed the team whether winning or losing. Bonnie also loved to travel, enjoyed water aerobics, and especially liked to spend time shopping. She looked forward to her Wednesday morning Bible study and faithfully attended through the years.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by brothers, Harold Cook, Joseph Cook, Mark “Mick” Cook and Robert Cook; sisters, Virginia Browser Smith and Belva Best.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan Stanton and Lori Johnson; grandchildren, Heather Bray, Aaron Bray, Megan Mellon-Stanton, and Jake Stanton; great-grandchildren,
Hannah Bray-Plummer, Haleigh West, Elena Nelson, and Beau Bray; and sister, Marjorie Squier Smith.
Family and friends will gather Tuesday, October 29, at 10 am in St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, where the funeral service will begin at 11 am.
Burial will follow at 3 pm in Ball Hill cemetery, Cutler.
In memory of Bonnie, memorial contributions may be given to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 4780 E. 126th Street, Carmel, IN 46033, or to Donor’s Favorite Charity.
