Billy “Bill” Jason York, 82, of Bringhurst, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022. He was born September 27, 1939 in Albany, KY, son of the late Theoflas Edward and Maude Ella (Andrews) York. He married Ethel Christine (Hinkle) York on December 30, 1960 at the First Brethren Church.
Bill was a 1958 graduate of Northwestern High School. He served in the US Army Reserves from 1958-1965, obtaining the rank of Spec 4. Bill retired from Haynes International, after 42 years of service. Bill enjoyed crafting woodworking pieces and knife making. He loved animals, always having a dog to go hunting with. Bill also raised chickens, pheasants, and rabbits. Above all, Bill loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his grandson, Billy Joe Morrow; brothers, Don York and Roy York; sisters, Ludean York and Jean Keith.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel; daughters, Sherry (Phil) Payne and Stacy Morrow; 2 granddaughters; Kristen (Sean) Day and Emily (Patrick) Trine; 3 great-grandchildren, Lucy Trine, Lincoln Trine, and Zayne Day.
Family and friends will gather Friday, March 25, 2022 at 12 noon in Stout & Son Funeral Home-Neptune Chapel, 44 Michigan Road, Burlington where the funeral service will begin at 2 pm.
Burial will follow in Burlington Cemetery.
In memory of Bill, contributions may be made to the Burlington First Brethren Church, of which Bill was a member, 205 W. 8th Street, Burlington, IN 46915.
