Barton "Bart" Turner Obituary

Barton “Bart” Turner, 54, of Westfield, passed away January 28, 2022.  He was born October 12, 1967 in Logansport, son of Charles and Mary Ellen (Grant) Turner.

Bart was a 1986 graduate of Logansport High School. Following high school graduation, Bart attended Culver Summer School. He was also a 1990 graduate of Anderson University and later received his master's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. He continued his education in the Indiana Police Academy.

During Bart’s working years, he worked at ML Ferris Investigations, Culver Summer School-Boy Scout Program, and Kokomo Police Department. Also, as a Cass County Juvenile Probation Officer, the TSA, and most recently, DFAS, Department Finance and Accounting Service.

As an US Army veteran, Bart participated in the Military Intelligence School, Officers Training.

Bart was a lifetime member of AMVETS and the Whitestown American Legion, Post #410.

One of Bart’s many achievements included the Eagle Scout, Captain award.

In high school, Bart loved being involved in the Key Club and singing in the swing choir. He was always available to help others complete their government resumes, he was co-leader of the Girl Scout troop and especially, he was proud to help his sons receive their Eagle Scout rank. The last two years, Bart taught the Financial Peace Class.

Bart was preceded in death by grandparents; biological parents,  Karen (Ferris) Goodman and Dennis Ferris.

Survivors include parents, Charles and Mary Ellen (Grant) Turner; wife, Sheri (Harter) Turner; children, Noah, Elijah, and Kayleigh Turner, step-children, Conner and Gabriel Henderson; sisters, Angela Turner, Heather (Bobby) Landers, Heidi (Andy) Hanson, and Hannah (Jarred) Wiggins; brothers, Travis (Sheri) Ferris and Tim (Ashley) Goodman; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Family and Friends will gather Friday, February 4, 2022 from 4-7 pm in Christ United Methodist Church, 318 N. Union Street, Westfield, of which Bart was a member. The Funeral Service will be conducted Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11 am with calling one hour prior in the church.

Burial will take place Monday, February 7, 2022 in Marion National Cemetery, 1700 East 38th Street, Marion with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be directed to the children’s 529 accounts.
