Barbara Ann Taylor, 82, passed peacefully, leaving behind a life defined by devotion—to her family, her work, and the people who were fortunate enough to have known her. Born November 10, 1943, in Alden, Alabama, to Nathan and Bertha Brown Williams, Barbara grew up with a strong sense of purpose and responsibility. She graduated from Praco High School at just 16 years of age and later continued her education at Indianapolis Community College, always striving to better herself and provide for those she loved. Barbara loved the Lord and wanted to make sure her children grew up knowing the importance of being in church and serving God,
Barbara dedicated 31 years to U.S. Envelope/MeadWestvaco, where she served as a machine operator, trainer, and supervisor. Her commitment was unmatched: she was a proud member of the Quarter Century Club and earned the Perfect Work Attendance Award for five consecutive years. Her co-workers admired her steady leadership, her fairness, and the quiet strength she carried into every task. She also excelled outside the workplace, becoming a top salesperson for Tupperware—an achievement that reflected her warm personality and natural ability to connect with others.
Above all else, Barbara’s heart belonged to God and her family. She was deeply involved in their lives, celebrating their interests, supporting their dreams, and showing up for every milestone. She was a proud Den Mother for her son Ennos’s Cub Scout troop, guiding young boys with patience, humor, and a nurturing spirit. She took immense pride in the man Ennos became and adored his daughter, Devon Simone, who was truly the joy of her grandmother’s heart.
Barbara shared an especially close bond with her daughter, Sherri. Whether they were out shopping, sharing a meal, or simply enjoying each other’s company, their time together was filled with laughter, comfort, and a love that needed no words.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Rutherford and husband, Augustine, Alice Doss and husband, Eddie, El Dora Dotson and husband, John Willie; brothers, Cleotis Williams, and wife, Cora, and Nathan Williams Jr and wife, Betty.
Survivors include her children, Ennos (Garla) Taylor, Jr. and Sherri Taylor; granddaughter, Devon; sisters, Minnie Davies, Geraldine Marburry; brothers, Melvin Williams, Sr. and Dwight Williams; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Barbara will be remembered for her unwavering dedication, her gentle spirit, and the way she made every person she loved feel seen, supported, and cherished. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to share in her life.
The family will gather to Celebrate Barbara’s Life on Monday, May 4, 2026.
Carmel Cemetery will be Barbara’s final resting place.
