Anthony "Ridge" Miller Obituary

Anthony Ridgeway (Ridge) Miller of Carmel, IN, went to be with his loving Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on June 15, 2019, a man of faith, character, and generosity. Born in Shreveport, LA in 1962, he was the beloved son of Mary Hackemeyer Miller and William Ronald Miller, devoted husband of 25 years to Paige Coolidge Miller, and loving father to Frances Grace Miller. Growing up in Dallas, TX, he was dearest brother to Audrey Miller Pennings and the late William Ronald Miller II, and uncle of cherished nieces and nephews Brooke Katherine Pennings, Mye Katherine Miller, William Ronald Miller III (Trace), and Christopher Flynn Miller, all of Dallas.

Ridge’s priorities were faith, family, friends, profession, and service. He was a faithful member of Cornerstone Lutheran Church – Carmel, where he served in a number of roles including 10 years as former Chairman of the Personnel Committee. He cherished family gatherings and prioritized time to be together and make memories. Ridge was also a genuine friend, and considered his many friendships blessings and great sources of joy.

He graduated from Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, TX, in the class of 1981. Ridge then graduated from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin in 1985 with a BBA in Accounting (Magna Cum Laude) and gained his CPA credentials. He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.

He began his CPA career at Coopers & Lybrand, Dallas, TX, and focused his expertise in the area of construction and architectural/engineering accounting. In 1995, he joined Kruse & Associates, Nashville, TN, where he served in the construction accounting practice. He led the development of the A/E industry sector and was elected Partner in 1999. Following a merger between Kruse & Associates and Crowe Horwath LLP (now Crowe LLP), Ridge relocated to Indianapolis with Crowe. With his depth of expertise in construction, architecture, and engineering accounting, he led Crowe’s construction practice in Indianapolis until his retirement this year.

Ever generous with his time, Ridge was a founding board member of the ACE (Architecture Construction Engineering) Mentor Program of Indiana, Inc., and served on the National Board of Directors as Treasurer of the ACE Mentor Program of America, the Accounting Advisory Council for the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business, and the Carmel Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors. He also served in numerous industry-related associations.

His family invites you to a memorial service in his honor at Cornerstone Lutheran Church, 4850 Main St., Carmel, IN 46033, on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at 11am EST, and to a reception at the church immediately following.
