We mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Anthony (Tony) Esquerdo, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away May 2, 2023 after a brave battle with post Covid respiratory issues.
Tony was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 9, 1934 to Antonio and Elvira Rodriguez Esquerdo.
He was a devoted family man who cherished his family. Tony was a pillar of strength and support, always putting his family first and ensuring they were happy and healthy.
Anthony was a veteran of the US Army.
In addition to being a loving family man, Tony had a great passion for golf. He spent many days and weekends on the course, perfecting his swing and enjoying the company of friends. He also enjoyed playing pool whenever possible and was a longtime member of the VFW where he developed wonderful friendships he greatly cherished.
But perhaps most of all, Tony was a great friend. He had a gift for making people feel at ease and always had a kind word or a joke to share. He was generous with his time, wisdom, and resources; his friends knew they could always count on him for support and guidance.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his brothers, Gilbert Esquerdo and Ernest Esquerdo; and daughter, Teri Eberwein.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Rodriguez Esquerdo; daughter, Antoinette (Chris) Esquerdo-Chen; granddaughters, Mallory (Billy) Hiatt, Sabrina Ware, and Olivia Chen; 4 great-grandchildren, Mason Hiatt, Kole Hiatt, Hunter Maxey-Ware, and Carter Ware; and siblings, Joe Esquerdo, and Vera (Jim) Louden.
