Andrew “Our favorite Scotsman” McQueenie, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021, with loved ones by his side. Born June 12, 1964 in Royal Virginia, Montreal, to James and Jean-May McQueenie, he is survived by his wife, Pearl McQueenie; siblings, Doug (Tracy) McQueenie and Linda McMahon; daughter Kennedy (McQueenie) Simon; stepsons, Brandon (Elizabeth) Beebe and Blake Beebe; uncle, Brian McQueenie, and his pup, Hilton.
A graduate of Lawrence Central High School in 1982, Andrew won an athletic scholarship for squash, to Purdue University, and was a member of the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. Andrew earned degrees in Humanities, Social Science, and Education. A manager of sales for most of his career, Andrew enjoyed much creative and business success.
Most important to him, were his family and friends: a beloved sister and brother, a daughter who kept him humble, nieces and nephews who filled holidays with love and tradition, in-laws who welcomed him like one of their own, and friends who flocked to his deck, any warm afternoon, to share a happy hour.
Like his adopted family, Andrew established a tradition of inviting this “Deck Crew” to a rented beach house at Hilton Head Island, creating some of the most cherished memories. Andrew will be remembered for his deep devotion to Pearl, his beguiling storytelling, and his boundless generosity.
Due to the current Covid-19 restriction guidelines, a family-only memorial service will be held on January 30, 2021, in his home. It is the family’s intention to have a more inclusive Celebration of Life, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Lung Association: www.lung.org or The Parkinson Foundation Parkinson.org.
