    Son, Brother, Husband, World War II Veteran, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Great-Great Grandfather —all supportive roles that Wayne skillfully and lovingly played for nearly 98 yrs. His family loves him, will miss him, and will honor him for his outstanding performances in all of these roles.

  Wayne Austin Deckard, nearly 98, died Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at home in Raleigh, NC.  He was born to William Ezra Deckard and Malinda S. Deckard on February 18, 1920.  He grew up in Lyons, Indiana with his family of three brothers and three sisters. 

  Wayne is survived by his three children, Larry W. Deckard and his wife, Becky of Raleigh, NC and their son, Rob Deckard (grandson), another son, Dennis E. Deckard of San Jose, CA and daughter, Lynn D'Alice Deckard Carey and her husband, Jim Carey of Sheridan, IN and their children Pete Carey (grandson), wife Hollie, Marc Carey (grandson), wife Kim, and Danielle Carey Tolan (grand-daughter), husband Andrew. seven great-grandchildren; Alexis, Allison, Spencer, Michael, Jon, Palmer and Ezra; two great-great grandsons; River and Brett and Wayne is  survived by his sister, Leona who also lives in Indiana.

  Wayne was predeceased by his first wife, Estelle and his second wife, Eileen, also three brothers, Lowell, Leonard and Ed; and two sisters, Thelma and Maxine.

  Wayne attended Indiana University, worked at Allison's for 39 years where he was recognized for his accomplishments in the Mark of Excellence Program as an efficiency expert.  He also enjoyed using his farming skills when he bought a small farm in Westfield, IN.  He also was active in the local Lions Club, a leader for the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the Westfield Methodist Church.

  Wayne was a World War II Army Veteran where he served in five major campaigns.  He served with honor, dedication and with the highest work ethic a man could give his country.

  Services will be held Thursday January 4, 2018 at 1pm at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, 6805 Pendleton Ave., Anderson, IN.
